Field House Brewing Abbotsford

Craft beer in British Columbia is one of the best things (in my humble opinion) to do when visiting a new town in this province. There are so many great breweries in BC now that it really creates a local hub for a town or a neighbourhood to have its own brewery.

Unlike a pub, the brewing industry has created a young and vibrant culture around imbibing and is often bright and airy while maintaining a family friendly vibe. It has become so much of a past time that people travel from brewery to brewery as a hobby. I suppose you could include me in that group now.

After picking up some Fieldhouse IPA at Cask & Barrel in West Kelowna, I was curious about visiting the brewery. Their IPA was a standout in the dizzying array of IPA's that I've drank in the past year. A reasonable 5.5% alcohol and tempered hops flavour makes it smooth without feeling light — a refined taste.

The space itself is a welcome surprise. You could call it hipster chic meets Canadian cabin. A cozy fireplace warms the room and whites and greys create a neutral, yet warm feeling.

Not far off of the highway in Abbotsford at the same exit as Cactus Club this is a great quick stop to pick up beer if you happen to be in the neighbourhood or travelling Highway One.
